How currency conversion works
An exchange rate expresses one currency in another. If 1 US dollar buys 0.92 euros, 1 euro buys 1 ÷ 0.92, or about 1.087 dollars. This converter shows both directions and updates the result as you type.
Using the converter
Choose a currency by name or code, such as USD, EUR or JPY. Enter an amount to see the conversion. Swap the currencies to reverse the calculation, or use the comparison tables for several amounts.
Where the rates come from
The tool loads the Fawaz Ahmed exchange-rate dataset, which is updated daily. The date beside the result identifies the data in use. Rates are indicative estimates rather than live trading quotes or a guaranteed exchange price. Loading rates requires an internet connection.
Fees and provider rates
A bank, card provider or exchange service may use a different rate and charge a fee. Those costs are not included here. Compare the provider's quoted amount and fees before completing a transaction.
Rounding
The calculator keeps the underlying rate for its arithmetic and rounds the displayed amount. A payment provider may use different precision or rounding rules, especially for currencies that do not use two decimal places.
